Cosmic Dance, Fjellhamar, 2022.
Sculpture.
Cosmic Dance is an abstract representation of the solar system, reminding us that while Earth may sometimes feel big and chaotic, it is just a small part of the solar system, which itself belongs to even larger systems of star groups and galaxies, all moving in very distinct and ordered manner.
- and so on it goes, an infinite unfolding of smaller parts within greater structures. This installation highlights the interconnectedness of all things in the cosmos, where everything moves in rhythmic harmony, revealing an incomprehensible beauty.
Whenever we find our finite world unsettled, this work invites us to find comfort ourselves by remembering our origins in the distant galaxies and embrace the vast, ordered infinity surrounding us.
The installation appears as a meteor that has landed at the school - a fragment of a star that brings a piece of the cosmos to Earth. Through Cosmic Dance, Kirstine reminds us that the human body is made of stardust, and that we, too, are small stars, carrying the universe within us.
