‘Hanging Balance’
Curated by Studio Roepstorff

Through the process of collage, artists engage with ‘real world’ materials, transforming them into a playground of endless rearrangement. This technique blurs the line between the real and the altered, building tensions as different surrealist realities emerge. As these intimate worlds take shape, they navigate slippery unclear boundaries, and upon completion, viewers are offered compositions that feel both resolved and dynamic.

Kirstine’s work embodies this process, presenting her exploration of composition as an unfolding lesson. Her works  ‘hang in the balance’, existing simultaneously in the present and as potential forms waiting to be reconfigured in future spaces and times. Kirstine’s deft handling of composition spills across all mediums she engages with. Paintings often appear stable, while Kirstine’s offer a momentary pause, where tensions between stability and change are palpably present. Her practice, with its inherent adaptability, offers viewers insight into managing unforeseen transitions.
